ChrisDalyz (pronounced crystalize) is an experimental audiovisual artist and immersive technologies specialist based in Byron Bay, Australia. After graduating with a degree in Audio Production, I went straight into a Master of Creative Industries program at SAE Byron Bay. I love the multi-disciplinary approach and constant pushing of the boundaries of audiovisual technologies. Other interests include multi-sensory instrumentation, projection mapping, music psychology, audio-controlling lighting parameters, live visual FX and pixel mapping.
Cloud Bridge at Splendour in the Grass 2023
Working with Andy Forbes and Illuminart, I produced a light sculpture that showcased projection and pixel mapping techniques to create a seamless experience where the lights and video projections acted as one. I built a custom iPad app interface to control the whole lighting rig over Wifi, including accelerometer control of the moving-head light fixtures inside the sculpture.
Duzzi Daze Festival 2022
I ran the sound and lighting production for this boutique festival over Easter weekend 2022 at Smoke and Mirrors venue in Byron Bay. With the help of Andy Forbes and Teagan Cruse (The Little Poet Productions) we put on 60 bands on 4 stages over 2 days with an attendance of 1000.
Currently, I work at The Beach Hotel Byron Bay as a senior light and sound technician. I also do a lot of project-based freelancing including music production for several local neo-soul artists, as well as immersive lighting gigs for local events and venues.
Held at the Brunswick Picture House on the 29th of April 2023, with local promoter Teagan Cruse (Little Poet Productions). This light show was run with 2 projectors plus the in-house lighting system.
